SGMC Health Launches MyDining to Enhance Patient Comfort, Choice, and Safety
Monday, March 30th, 2026
SGMC Health has launched MyDining, a digital patient meal‑ordering experience that gives patients greater control, flexibility, and confidence during their hospital stay while enhancing one of the most personal parts of care: mealtime.
Through in‑room tablets, personal mobile devices, or assistance from a patient dining associate or call center, MyDining allows patients to order meals in the way that works best for them. This patient‑first approach extends the care experience beyond the bedside while improving comfort and satisfaction.
“Hospital stays can make patients feel like everyday choices are out of their hands,” said Jason Childress, Director of Food Services. “MyDining restores a sense of normalcy by allowing patients to choose what they eat, while ensuring those choices always align with their clinical needs.”
MyDining integrates directly with the electronic health record to automatically account for allergies, diet restrictions, and care‑team updates. This integration supports safety, accuracy, and confidence throughout the ordering process. Patients can also track their meal from order to delivery, while guest tray ordering allows loved ones to share meals during recovery. The system is available in both English and Spanish, expanding accessibility across SGMC Health’s service area.
Each year, SGMC Health’s Food Services team prepares more than 2 million meals across the health system. MyDining represents a meaningful advancement in both scale and impact by supporting healing, operational efficiency, and a more personalized patient experience.
“MyDining reflects our commitment to the entire patient journey and how people feel while they are here, not just clinical outcomes,” Childress said. “It’s a meaningful step forward in delivering care that is both high‑quality and deeply human.”
