Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of NCNW Hosts Successful 11th Annual Community-Wide Family Reunion
Tuesday, October 1st, 2024
The Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) proudly hosted its 11th Annual Community-Wide Family Reunion on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Boys & Girls Club in Valdosta. This free event brought together hundreds of families, celebrating community unity while providing essential services and support.
The Family Reunion featured fun activities for all ages, including bounce houses, games, raffles, and music. More importantly, attendees received valuable resources such as voter registration assistance, health screenings, and the distribution of 13,700 pounds of food to families in need—at no cost.
Empowering the Community
Attorney Karla Walker, President of the Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of NCNW, shared her appreciation for the event and its significance:
"We were able to feed so many needs. We provided food, but more importantly, we fulfilled our civic responsibility. We had voter registration, people checking their status, ensuring their health was good, and making sure life was good, because we are called to empower everyone in our community. Thank you from the Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Section of the National Council of Negro Women."
Acknowledging Our Key Supporters
The success of this year’s Family Reunion was made possible by the generous contributions of sponsors and partners, including Pepsi, Target, Lowe’s, Publix, Chick-fil-A, First Commerce Credit Union, All Electrical Contractors, 100 Black Men of Valdosta, Greater Valdosta United Way, and the Boys & Girls Club of Valdosta, which provided the venue. Special thanks also go to DJ Tremayne, who provided music for the event, and the many vendors who participated and provided services to our attendees.
Additionally, NCNW is deeply grateful for the many volunteers who helped make the event a success, including students from Valdosta State University, the Valdosta State University Collegiate Section of NCNW, Moody Air Force Base Airmen, members of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, and many others.
