The devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene has impacted families and communities across Georgia, leaving many in urgent need of support. In response, the BankSouth Foundation launched a matching donation program for BankSouth and BankSouth Mortgage employees, providing critical resources to help those affected by the storm. Together, the Foundation and employees raised an impressive $36,100 to aid in recovery and rebuilding efforts in the Augusta and Valdosta regions.

The combined funds have been directed to the United Way of the CSRA in Augusta and the Greater Valdosta United Way. Both organizations are on the ground, delivering essential supplies, shelter, and long-term support to hurricane victims, well after the immediate crisis fades from the news cycle.

"As a company deeply invested in supporting our neighbors and customers during difficult times, it is heartwarming to see our teams unite to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene," said Harold Reynolds, Chairman and CEO of BankSouth. "These generous donations, paired with our Foundation's matching contribution, reflect our strong commitment to the communities we call home."

Kim Nelson, CEO of BankSouth Mortgage, echoed these sentiments. "Our hearts are with everyone affected by the storm’s devastation. Our teams are ready to support those in need, whether through recovery efforts, providing resources, or simply being a source of comfort. We encourage anyone impacted to reach out."

Hurricane Helene has caused widespread destruction, displacing families and cutting off access to many basic necessities. BankSouth and BankSouth Mortgage remain dedicated to playing an active role in the recovery process and encourage others in the community to contribute to the ongoing relief efforts in any way they can.
