Lowndes Associated Ministries to People, Inc. (LAMP) has received $1,500 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help feed neighbors in their time of need. LAMP will use the gift to purchase food such as ground beef, chicken and dairy products to prepare meals for its residents throughout the month.

“We are so grateful for the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation gift. Due to the increase of food prices and the rising population inside our shelter, this gift will support our efforts to ensure that the children and families we serve get a hot meal each day,” said LAMP Board President Adrian Rivers, BA, MA, CED.

LAMP feeds approximately 45 residents a day, receiving two meals Monday through Friday and three meals on the weekend. LAMP strives to offer residents healthy meals throughout the week prepared in part by the residents. With meals costing about $3 per meal, protein can be the most expensive, so having funds to offset this is very helpful to the overall budget. LAMP’s mission is to provide comprehensive social services and innovative housing solutions that help put people on the path to a home, starting with shelter, hot showers and warm meals. Not having to worry about where their next meal is coming from can really help people focus on taking the next steps to improve their lives.

The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded nearly $17 million in grants.
