City Delivers a Balanced Budget

After making some tough decisions that resulted in the reduction of over $3.7 million of department requests, the City of Valdosta Fiscal Year 2017 Budget was approved by the Mayor and City Council at their June 9 City Council meeting. Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens announced this week that the state’s legal community raised the equivalent of nearly 1.2 million pounds of food during this year's Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, an annual food/fund drive sponsored by the Georgia Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division and the Attorney General’s office. 20 area firms and legal organizations participated in this year’s event which benefits Second Harvest of South Georgia, the regional food bank.
