Valdosta Partners with UGA for Workforce Housing and Transportation Survey

The City of Valdosta has partnered with the University of Georgia’s Housing and Demographic Research Center to conduct a survey that will explore housing, neighborhood and transportation preferences among people working in Valdosta. Made possible through a Community Assistantship Program grant, the data will be utilized to address housing and community development goals.

New Low-Interest Loans to Assist Valdosta Small Businesses

Beginning Oct. 1, a new City of Valdosta program using federal Community Development Block Grant funds will make available low-interest loans of up to $10,000 each to qualifying new and existing small businesses within the City of Valdosta.

Welcome to the Barber House: An Unveiling and Celebration

The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce held an unveiling party last night to honor the individuals and companies who supported the Chamber’s “Investing For The Next Century” capital campaign in 2015. The campaign raised nearly $600,000 to make improvements to the Barber House and to help support the SEEDS Business Resource Center.

Southeastern Credit Union Receives Social Responsibility and Community Service Award

Southeastern Credit Union has received the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award from Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for the Fill-a-Truck for Hunger Food Drive. Southeastern will go on to compete at the national level for the Credit Union National Association’s Social Responsibility Award in the $50 to $250 million asset category.

Metro Valdosta’s Unemployment Rate Declines to 5.4% in July

The Georgia Department of Labor announced today that Metro Valdosta’s unemployment rate for July was 5.4 percent, down three-tenths of a percentage point from 5.7 percent in June. The rate in July 2015 was 6.6 percent.

Azalea Health Receives $10.5 Million in Series B Funding From Kayne Partners Fund

Azalea Health announced Friday that it has closed its $10.5 million Series B round of funding. The round was led by Kayne Partners, the growth private equity group of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P., an alternative investment firm managing over $22.5 billion in assets. Existing Azalea investor Intersouth Partners, a venture capital firm in Durham, NC, also participated in the round.
