Transcript:

I’m Jeff Hanson, Chief Banking at Southwest Georgia Bank. One question I get a lot is I know home mortgages are low. Interest rates are very low. Is it a good time to refinance my home, maybe buy a new home, upgrade, but can I get financing? That's a big question. People don't know because there are some costs involved with doing that and where is the breakdown of the cost benefit analysis of trying to get that done and going through the hassle quite frankly of getting that done and I think the short answer is that yes, it's an excellent time to consider that. Rates are really at historical lows for home mortgages. If you can lock in a long term fixed rate in the four, four and a half percent range historically those are amongst the lowest rates in our history.

So it is a little bit of work, a little bit of time, but I think the benefits of doing that are well worthwhile. I can save you thousands and thousands of dollars of interest over the course of your mortgage. It's not necessarily a fun thing to do, but it is a certainly worthwhile endeavor. I know we've got a great mortgage staff, but there are a lot of good folks out there that can walk you through that process, but it takes a good relationship banker to help you through that process and navigate it, but if you're even thinking about buying something or refinancing I think now is the perfect time to do so and I think a little bit of hard work will save you a whole lot of money over the course of your tenor in your home, but again if there is something we can do to help just give us a call at 244-4444 and we'll help you in every way we can.
