City of Valdosta Wins Four Statewide Awards for Public Works, Engineering

The City of Valdosta won four awards, at the Georgia American Public Works Association (APWA) conference, which took place in Jekyll Island. 

“The city has an amazing employee base who work tirelessly every day to keep City functions operating thus providing our citizens first class services day to day,” said Public Works Director and Deputy City Manager Richard Hardy. 

The City of Valdosta claimed three APWA Manager(s) of the Year Award, honoring city employees Tom Pierce, under the Emergency Management Category, Angela Bray under the Water Resources Category and Anthony Musgrove under the Solid Waste Category.

The Engineering Department, Stormwater Utility Division, also received the Georgia Chapter APWA Awareness Award for Community Involvement. This award was presented for the departments work on building Christmas Parade Floats for the Annual Greater Valdosta Community Christmas Parade.

“The work our employees do, and the impact makes it easy to capture and put on paper.  It is a great feeling knowing that our employees have both the ability and effort to tackle the daily responsibilities of their position while performing at a level where it puts them in the forefront to get recognized,” said Hardy.
