Moody Presents Thrift Shop Scholarships

Thursday, May 27th, 2021

The Moody Air Force Base Thrift Shop awarded scholarships to four individuals on May 21, 2021, at the George W. Bush Air Park.

The Thrift Shop is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide eligible members the opportunity to buy and sell used property. All proceeds go directly to Airmen and dependents of Team Moody through charitable endeavors.

Scholarships were open to high school students and military spouses. This year, the Thrift Shop awarded $5,500 in scholarships to applicants.

Applicants were judged on the whole-person concept, submitting an essay along with an application listing their achievements, time spent volunteering, participation in extracurricular activities, their school grades and future plans.

During the ceremony, Col. Benjamin Conde, 23d Wing vice commander, spoke to the accomplishments of the scholars.

“We’re proud of what the family of our service members are doing,” Conde said. “It’s a pleasure to present these scholars an award for their hard work.”
