Valdosta Main Street Accepting Applications for Christmas Parade

Staff Report

Wednesday, October 21st, 2020

The Greater Valdosta Annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the City of Valdosta and the Ossipe Temple is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, at 6 pm. This year the theme is “Christmas Lights and Winter Nights.”

The parade will start at Woodrow Wilson Drive and proceed south down N. Patterson Street and end in Downtown Valdosta!

“There will be judges along the route so if you want your parade float to be judged, make sure you decorate it in accordance with the theme, and maybe you can win a prize,” said Ellen Hill, Main Street Manager.

The parade application can be found on the Valdosta Main Street website for any organization interested in participating.

The fee to enter a float in the parade is $50 for the first entry and $10 for each additional vehicle up to 4 total if they represent the same brand/logo. Fees should be paid by November 20, 2020. There will be a $25 late fee for applications and fees received after November 22. Due to social distancing procedures, Main Street strongly encourages all parade participants to utilize a float, trailer, or some type of vehicle entry as opposed to a walking group. Anyone watching the parade is encouraged to wear a face-covering or mask as well as social distance when possible.

Applications may be mailed to the Ossipe Temple No. 65, PO Box 874, Valdosta, GA 31603-9998, or placed in the dropbox in the Valdosta City Hall Annex outside of the Main Street Office.
