Thomas University’s online Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling was recently named to TheBestSchools.org list of the 16 best online Masters in Substance Abuse Counseling degree programs.

“Being recognized as one of the best online programs along with 15 other top-notch programs in our discipline is a tremendous honor for Thomas University,” said Dr. Cristina Jones, Program Director for the M.S. Degree in Clinical Mental Health and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. “This just confirms that our addictions specialization, in conjunction with our dual degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, is preparing our students to be at the forefront of employment opportunities when they graduate.”

In compiling the list, TheBestSchools.org reviewed all accredited online master’s degree programs in substance abuse counseling in the U.S. Each programs was ranked based on academic excellence within the discipline, strength of the faculty’s scholarship, reputation, financial aid programs, and strength of online instruction methodology. TheBestSchools.org specifically mentions that TU’s program does not require any on-campus residencies; that students can complete required field placements, practicums and internships near where they live; and that TU’s tuition is the same for in-state and out-of-state students.

TU’s completely online Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Degree is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Students completing the degree are eligible to take the national Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam and become licensed as a professional counselor in the state in which they live.
