Thursday, August 2nd, 2018

Lowndes-Valdosta Arts Commission Board President Jeani Synyard and Turner Center for the Arts Executive Director Sementha Mathews present South Georgia Regional Library Librarian Jeanna Allums with a bronze sculpture in celebration of the library’s grand opening on July 28. The sculpture, titled “Boy on Globe,” is a replica of a larger outdoor sculpture that was gifted to The 100 Black Men of Valdosta in 2013 by Valdosta Public Art Advisory Committee and which sits in front the organization’s building on MLK Jr. Drive, in Valdosta.

The Turner Center also has two art exhibits on display in the new library, which will be rotated out regularly to showcase local artists’ work and draw attention to art education.
