Global Partnership for Telehealth, a non-profit corporation whose mission is to deliver worldwide access to telehealth, announced the availability of its new telemedicine web-based video conferencing software called Pathways. For specialty and primary care telemedicine consultations, Pathways allows telehealth users to access different peripheral scopes, a tele-auscultation platform, and shared patient health information all in one secure web-based platform, making consultations much easier to perform.

“Pathways is not only a game changer for GPT’s 600+ in-network providers and receivers of clinical telehealth services but is the best solution for providers, health systems and telehealth networks looking for a user-friendly, streamlined, affordable telehealth platform,” said Rena Brewer, CEO, GPT. “With more than a decade of telemedicine software development experience, GPT knows that for a platform to be useful it has to fit into a provider’s daily workflow and not increase the workload. With Pathways, we have accomplished this.”

Previously, facilitating a telemedicine visit required GPT’s partners to switch between different video conferencing, imaging, and tele-auscultation software packages according to the healthcare providers’ needs. Professionals on both sides of the consult had to ensure that patient data matched perfectly for billing purposes, an endeavor that often-demanded tedious coordination. Pathways solves many of these industry problems with its simple and secure design.

Technology features. Pathways software features:

- A virtual waiting room, allowing providers to see who is waiting for a consultation

- The ability to enter patient information into an easily printable consult summary for record-keeping

- Encounter summaries that easily upload to existing EMR’s

- Secure servers, HIPPA compliant

- The option to easily switch between Pathways and TeleSensi, our Tele-Auscultation platform

Network of Providers. GPT is the largest non-profit telehealth network in the U.S. with approx.130 in-network providers ranging in specialty from infectious disease, transplant, mental health and many others. Specialist access is turnkey for small or rural markets where these providers might not be available.

Ease of Use and Affordability. As a cloud-based platform, Pathways eliminates the need for an expensive hardware investment. Providers can use their existing setup, making it affordable and appealing to a wider audience. Pathways’ flexible platform can be tailored to different users’ needs and will shift with market demand.

“The workflow is very intuitive and includes the ability to easily share patient information with the healthcare provider,” said Jerad Johnson, CTO, GPT. “This means the time it takes a healthcare professional to be trained for implementing telehealth into their practice will be greatly reduced.  Our providers asked for reduced administrative time, so they have more time to focus on the patient. We are proud that Pathways achieves these goals and hope to bring telemedicine to even more underserved areas.”
