The Cancer Coalition continues its local fight against cancer, now under the new name of Horizons Community Solutions, according to organizers.

The 2018 gala honors cancer survivor Sue Cox of Valdosta.

The event includes a plated dinner, live and silent auctions, and live musical entertainment.

"Sue Cox, owner and operator of Covington’s Dining & Catering and 306 North Restaurant, is a beloved and highly respected member of the Valdosta community," according to organizers. "Ms. Cox serves as chairman of the Central Valdosta Development Authority, a member of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce, as well as an advisory committee member of the new culinary arts program at Valdosta Technical College."

Concerned about our area’s high cancer rates, she supports Horizons Community Solutions’ ongoing work through its Cancer Coalition of South Georgia.

“We are thrilled to have this highly respected member of the Valdosta community as our 2018 Night for Hope honoree," said Cynthia George, Cancer Coalition chief executive officer. "I challenge everyone to become involved, so we can exceed our fundraising goals and continue our local, lifesaving work against cancer.

“We are grateful to our corporate partners DOCO Credit Union, Georgia CEO, Georgia Power, Keystone Foods/Equity Group and Southeastern Credit Union, and to the event’s sponsors thus far: Best Buddies Club, Inc., CJB Industries, Fresh Beginnings, Merry Jo and Tom Kurrie and Thacker Dermatology."

Cancer Coalition officials are seeking additional business and family sponsorships, business advertisements and memorial/honorariums for loved ones as well as auction donations.
