June 20 | Development Authority Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority will meet on Tuesday, June 20, at 5:30 p.m., at 103 Roosevelt Drive. See city calendar.
 
June 20 | Pink Heals Visits Valdosta
The Pink Heals bus, most recognizable by its bright pink color and thousands of hand-written messages covering it, will visit Valdosta on Tuesday, June 20 to encourage several local residents through their struggles. The Valdosta Pink Heals Chapter, established in 2016, helps the national organization raise money to provide health care and support for women and families who face cancer, heart disease, lupus, domestic violence, mental health, diabetes or homelessness, etc. The local chapter coordinated the bus visit to Valdosta for our local residents. June 21 | Road Closure on N. Lee
Beginning Wednesday, June 21, N. Lee Street will be closed between E. Jane Street and E. Brookwood Drive for the replacement of a sewer main in that area. The small section of road is expected to be closed to traffic for a few weeks while the repairs are made. Detour signs will be posted to direction the flow of traffic.
 
June 21 | The First Day of Summer
This year, the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere falls on Wednesday, June 21, at 12:24 a.m., EDT, officially marking the beginning of summer. The timing of the solstice depends on when the sun reaches its northernmost point of the equator, and it is the day with the most hours of sunlight during the whole year. Happy Summer, South Georgia! (And, don’t forget to stock up on your sunscreen and mosquito repellent.)

June 21 | Hospital Authority Meets
The Hospital Authority of Valdosta and Lowndes County will meet on Wednesday, June 21, at 8 a.m., at South Georgia Medical Center, Executive Board Room, located at 2501 N. Patterson Street. See city calendar.

June 21 | City Hosts Career Development Workshop
A Career Development Workshop, sponsored by the City of Valdosta’s Neighborhood Development Division and Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc., will take place on Wednesday, June 21, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street.  This partnership expands community access to job training and connections services through a series of workshops and the new Job Connections Kiosk in the city’s Customer Service Center—making valuable job training more accessible to citizens who seek them. June 21 | Parks and Recreation Authority Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority will meet on Wednesday, June 21, at 4:30 p.m., at 1901 N. Forrest Street. See city calendar.

June 22 | City Council Meets
The Mayor and City Council invite citizens to attend the City Council meeting on Thursday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m., at Valdosta City Hall, in the Second-Floor Council Chambers, located at 216 E. Central Avenue. This meeting will include the third and final budget hearing before the city council votes on the FY2018 budget, in addition to other city business. June 24 | Farm Days
The popular Downtown Valdosta Farm Days will continue this Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the 100 block of E. Valley Street, located behind the historic courthouse in downtown Valdosta. The June 24 Farm Days will be the last event until Farm Days picks back up for the fall, Sept. 9-Nov. 25. June 24 | MCPD Hosts South Georgia Resource Expo
People with disabilities, as well as those who care for people with disabilities, are invited to the 2017 South Georgia Resource Expo, sponsored by the Valdosta Mayor's Council for Persons with Disabilities, on Saturday, June 24. The Resource Expo will take place at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts, located at 527 N. Patterson Street, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. View more here
