VSU Hosts 41st Annual International Dinner April 29th

Staff Report From Valdosta CEO

Friday, April 28th, 2017

The Society for International Students at Valdosta State University will present its 41st annual international dinner — Cruise Around the World — at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, in the Student Union Ballroom.

Tickets are on sale now at the Center for International Programs, 204 Georgia Ave., and cost $15 for VSU students with a valid 1Card and area high school students; $25 for VSU faculty and staff and other adults from area communities; and $10 for area elementary and middle school students. Children under the age of 5 will be admitted free of charge.

Cruise Around the World is an opportunity for VSU’s international students to share part of their culture with the people of South Georgia. The celebration of cultural diversity features a global menu of appetizers, side dishes, entrees, and desserts prepared by international students under the supervision of Aramark, or V-State Dining. The meal will be served buffet style.

Throughout the evening, guests will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction featuring souvenir items donated by some of VSU’s international students, visit a Henna tattoo station, capture memories at a photo station, and enter to win one of several prizes. There will be traditional and modern singing, dancing, and musical performances, as well as a fashion show featuring attire traditionally worn around the world.

“This event helps bring the VSU and Valdosta community closer, as well as showcase the different cultures of the students that attend Valdosta State,” said Danielle Bacud, international student advisor with the Center for International Programs.

VSU has between 250 and 300 international students from more than 40 countries on campus this semester.

Please note that the Society of International Students accepts cash and checks only.
