Feb. 1 | Deadline to Apply for Board Opportunities
If you’ve always wanted to be more active in the community, consider one of nine opportunities to serve on the city’s boards, commissions, authorities and advisory committees. View positions, or contact City Clerk Teresa Bolden at 229-259-3503 for more information and to obtain the required forms. The closing date for submitting the General Board Application and Code of Ethics form is Feb. 1, by 5 p.m. The Mayor and Council will appoint citizens to these positions at the Feb. 9 City Council meeting.
 
Feb. 1 | Bird Supper Tickets on Sale Now
The 2017 Bird Supper will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at the historic Georgia Railroad Depot, in Atlanta, beginning at 5 p.m. This traditional event, sponsored by the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners and the City of Valdosta, brings together hundreds of state officials and local business, professional and government personnel for a dinner of quail and meaningful conversations. Feb. 1 | Nominate Your Local HEROES
Feb. 1 is the deadline to nominate someone you know for the American Red Cross HEROES program. View HEROES nomination form. This program is a great way to honor and celebrate the people who go above and beyond the call of duty in our community.
 
Feb. 3 | First Friday Featuring Art Walk
February’s First Friday event will take place on Friday, Feb. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. and will feature the popular Art Walk. Art Walk is an enjoyable event that combines the love of art and Historic Downtown Valdosta. The event will include a wine tasting experience at participating Art Walk locations. Wrist bands for the wine experience will be available at each location for $20 per person with all proceeds going to Downtown beautification projects. See city web calendar.
