The Class of 2016 Pharmacy Technology students at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College donated a diabetic model to the Pharmacy Technology Program to benefit future students.

Frank Barnett, Pharmacy Technology Program Coordinator, said, “These students were enrolled in an Advanced Pharmacy Technology Course; their semester project was to develop a Diabetes Patient Education Presentation.  The students researched the disease state and presented key points utilizing poster boards and purchased a model of important organs that are affected by diabetes.  The research and presentation consisted of information that a patient would find useful to equip them with this important lifestyle change.  The key points explained tools and importance of diet and exercise, different medication regiments including insulin, cost of various supplies, and the many different models of blood glucose monitoring devices.”

Barnett added, “The generosity of this donation by this group of students will ensure the understanding of key concepts of the disease state of diabetes for many pharmacy tech classes in the future.  This donation is a direct result of just how professional this group of students is and how they will positively impact the pharmacy technician profession.”
