The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates will honor Brenda Seggerman, an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer at Hydrite Chemical Company, and Karli Greene, a Human Resources specialist with CJB Industries, Inc., with the SOCMA President's Leadership Award for their exceptional contributions to the specialty chemical industry through advocacy and service at the association's 95th Annual Dinner, December 5, in New York.

Seggerman is the recipient of the 2016 President's Leadership Award for Excellence in Advocacy because of her significant involvement as SOCMA's small entity representative on the Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act panels that dealt with two parallel rulemakings – The Environmental Protection Agency's Risk Management Program Rule and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Process Safety Management Rule.

"SOCMA was very fortunate to have Brenda volunteer for both the RMP and PSM SBREFA processes, and we greatly appreciate Hydrite for allowing her to serve the association in this capacity," said SOCMA Government Relations Director Dan Moss. "Brenda's work was highly praised by the Small Business Administration and, in many respects, became the core of SOCMA's own comments on these relevant issues. Congratulations, Brenda, on this well-deserved honor."

Greene, our 2016 recipient of the President's Leadership Award for Excellence in Service, contributed her time and expertise to create a new chapter on formulation for SOCMA's Chemical Operator Training program.

"CJB recognized the COT needed some enhancements to reflect the needs of companies like themselves who do blending but not necessarily reaction chemistry," said Dr. J. Holland Jordan, Managing Director of ChemStewards®. "Karli led the charge in creating this new chapter, and we appreciate CJB Industries for enabling her to contribute to this effort."

"As I step into my new role at SOCMA, I truly appreciate that we have members such as these who selflessly give of their time to assist our membership, improve the value of SOCMA and represent the interests of the specialty chemical industry," said SOCMA President and CEO Jennifer Abril. "This is what truly makes our membership great. Congratulations, ladies, on a job well done."
