The Valdosta Junior Service League 2014 Provisional Class is excited to host “A Major Start to a Miracle League”, benefiting The Miracle League of Valdosta on Sunday, March 1.  The event will be held from 3pm to 5pm at Valdosta State University’s Billy Grant Baseball Field.  Concession stands will be open.

“The purpose of the event is to register 80 physically and mentally challenged children and adults who will be able to participate in The Miracle League’s spring season,” says Meghan Schunhoff, Valdosta Junior Service League Provisional Class member.  Miracle League’s season kicks off on Tuesday, March 10 at Freedom Park.  Along with registration, this event will have training sessions for the children and adults with volunteers. A celebrity baseball game will be played starting at 2:30pm.

The Miracle League of Valdosta is a non-profit organization that provides everyone with mental or physical disabilities an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league.  Miracle League is a high- quality, safe, and inclusive experience for the participants as well as their families.

“We encourage everyone in Valdosta and surrounding communities to come out on Sunday.  Although this event is to register children and adults for Miracle League’s season, we want everyone to see what wonderful things The Miracle League of Valdosta is doing for the mentally and physically challenged here in the community,” says Schunhoff.

“The Valdosta Junior Service League understands the vision that The Miracle League of Valdosta has for this community. We are extremely thankful they chose us to do their provisional service project this year,” says Andy Gibbs, founder & director of Miracle League of Valdosta. “It will help us out tremendously,” says Gibbs.

Registration is required to participate in Miracle League’s spring season, children and adults ages 4 years old and up. The cost is $35.00 and this includes a jersey, hat and insurance. To learn more about The Miracle League of Valdosta visit; http://www.miracleleagueofvaldosta.com/.
