Wiregrass Announces New Dean of Allied Health Programs

Dr. Ron O’Meara, vice president of academic affairs, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jammie Wilbanks has been hired as the Dean of Allied Health Programs for Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. Dr. Wilbanks began working for Wiregrass in August of 2012 as the Program Coordinator for the Radiologic Technology Program. As the dean, she will oversee 22 health care programs offered on four campuses and online.

Wilbanks began her teaching career in 2001 with Southern Union State Community College as the Radiography Clinical Coordinator. She was then named an associate professor of Radiologic Science at Midwestern State University in 2006. Prior to teaching, she gained real world experience and knowledge working as a radiologic technologist with Tanner Health Systems in Bremen, Georgia.

Wilbanks has her Ph.D. in Educational Studies from the University of Nebraska, a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science and a Master of Science in Radiologic Science from Midwestern State University. She also has an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Radiography from Southern Union State Community College in Opelika, Alabama.

Originally from Marietta, Georgia she now lives in Valdosta with her husband Tanner, and son.  Her husband is also in health care currently working as an RN at South Georgia Medical Center.
