Employer Committee to Host Workplace Seminar March 14th in Valdosta

The South Georgia Employer Committee and the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce will co-host a seminar Wednesday, March 14, for employers on how to hire and retain productive employees for their workplaces.

The seminar will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Valdosta Career Center, located at 221 South Ashley St. Entitled Leading Five Generations in the Workplace, the seminar will be led by Bob Roesch of Atlanta, a senior training coordinator with GDOL’s Office of Staff Development.

The seminar will focus on managing a multi-age workforce, increasing productivity in the workplace, and developing strategies that resolve differences among employees. It will highlight five generations of workers, including traditionalists, baby boomers, generation X, millennial, and generation 2020 employees. There will also be a special emphasis on the federal Turner Job Corps Center in Albany and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).

The seminar is designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors, team leaders, and entrepreneurs.

The cost of the seminar is $15 for those who pre-register by Friday, March 9, and $20 for others. A continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m., along with registration.
