IDP Properties, in partnership with the Valdosta Housing Authority, proudly announces the groundbreaking ceremony for Harvest Station Apartments. The event marks the beginning of the construction phase for an 80-unit affordable housing community, featuring one, two, and three-bedroom apartments.

Last year, IDP Properties and the Valdosta Housing Authority were honored to be recipients of $1,076,400 in federal and state housing tax credits from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. These crucial funds will facilitate the development of Harvest Station Apartments, addressing the pressing need for affordable housing in Valdosta.

Additionally, the City of Valdosta, in partnership with the Valdosta Housing Authority, allocated $3.3 million of ARPA funds to purchase the land and make a loan for the development of the Harvest Station Apartments.

Harvest Station Apartments is slated to be a vibrant community with a total development cost of $18 million. The project will be situated at the intersection of South Troup Street and Griffin Avenue in Valdosta, GA. The chosen location, formerly occupied by aging tobacco warehouses that were dismantled years ago, will now transform into a modern and inclusive residential space.

This groundbreaking represents a significant milestone in addressing the housing challenges faced by many in our community. Harvest Station Apartments will contribute to the overall well-being of Valdosta residents by providing quality, affordable housing options.

"We are thrilled to embark on the construction of Harvest Station Apartments," said City Manager Richard Hardy. "This project is poised to not only transform the aesthetics of our community but also address the pressing need for affordable housing options. We believe it will contribute significantly to the betterment of our cityscape and the lives of our residents."

The development is expected to create jobs, stimulate local economies, and offer a diverse range of housing solutions for individuals and families in Valdosta.

“IDP is excited about building more affordable housing in Valdosta and continuing to make a positive impact on our hometown” said IDP President, Rhett Holmes. “Not only providing the affordable housing, but also improving the quality of life for many families and children is of utmost importance to any strong community.”

The construction of Harvest Station Apartments aligns with IDP Properties' and the Valdosta Housing Authority's commitment to fostering community development and improving the quality of life for residents. This project exemplifies the positive impact that public-private partnerships can have on addressing critical housing needs.
