Verizon Goes 25-Under in SGBC Golf Tournament
Thursday, October 1st, 2026
In a wire-to-wire shootout that came down to the final green, the Verizon corporate team posted a blistering 25-under-par net score to claim first-place honors at the 2026 Southern Georgia Black Chambers (SGBC) Annual Golf Tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
Captained by Brandon Dunlap alongside teammates R. Wallace, A. Wilcox, and M. Dunlap, the Verizon foursome captured the championship cash purse, holding off a fierce challenge from Title Presenting Sponsor Langdale Hyundai by a single stroke.
Langdale Hyundai’s squad—anchored by Courtney Grate, included I. Moses, C. Dunmon, and D. Wright—carded a stellar 24-under-par (-24) to secure the second-place podium finish. Georgia Power, led by Joe Brownlee, alongside D. Hutchinson, B. Bosch, and J. Crawford, finished third with a commanding 22-under-par net (-22).
Held under the theme "Where Commerce Meets the Course," the signature B2B scramble brought together 12 regional corporate flights, small business owners, and civic leaders on Kinderlou Forest's championship layout. Net proceeds directly fund the SGBC Small Business Development Micro-Grants and the Youth Entrepreneurship Scholarship Fund.
"This was our most competitive and impactful tournament to date," said H. DeWayne Johnson, President and CEO of the Southern Georgia Black Chambers. "To see Verizon, our title partners at Langdale Hyundai, and Georgia Power battle it out stroke-for-stroke on an elite course like Kinderlou Forest captures the very essence of what this event is about: excellence, camaraderie, and commerce working together to empower our local community."
In addition to leading Langdale Hyundai’s runner-up charge, Isaac Moses took home individual honors by winning the high-stakes Hole #11 Longest Drive Contest, sponsored by regional law firm Coleman Talley LLP.
