SGMC Health has named four members of its Imaging team as Health System Heroes, recognizing their outstanding teamwork, compassion, and commitment to patient-centered care. The recognition honors Radiology Technologists Dresden Pierce and Dahja Joyner, and Technical Assistants Brianna Dudley and Jayla Cody.

During an especially busy and demanding time in the emergency department, the four team members were scanning a patient whose nurse was pulled away for an emergent situation in another room. Without being asked, they stepped in to assist the nurse by providing the patient with a full linen change, ensuring they were clean, comfortable, and cared for with dignity.

What made their actions particularly meaningful was their willingness to quietly help where they were needed most. Rather than focusing solely on their own responsibilities, they recognized a teammate in need of support and took the initiative to make a difference. By the time the nurse returned to the patient’s room, the patient had already been cared for and expressed appreciation for the compassionate care they received.

Their actions exemplify the teamwork and collaboration that are essential in a healthcare setting. In a fast-paced environment where every team member plays an important role, their willingness to step beyond their usual responsibilities helped support both the patient and a fellow caregiver.

The recognition highlights the impact that small acts of kindness can have on patients, families, and fellow team members. Through their selfless actions, this group of Health System Heroes demonstrated the values that help create a culture of excellence and respect across SGMC Health.
