Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, September 15th, 2026

SGMC Health is expanding access to specialized foot and ankle care in South Georgia with the addition of SGMC Podiatry, effective September 14. The practice, formerly known as Valdosta Foot & Ankle Clinic, will continue to be led by trusted providers Michael Wallace, DPM, and Devin Daugherty, DPM.

This transition ensures patients can continue receiving the high-quality care they have come to expect from their podiatry team, now supported by the full resources and integrated network of SGMC Health.

“Bringing this practice into the SGMC Health network strengthens our ability to provide comprehensive, coordinated care for patients throughout our region,” said Brenda Alexander, Vice President of South Georgia Physician Network and Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are proud to welcome Dr. Wallace and Dr. Daugherty and to continue offering their exceptional expertise to the community.”

Dr. Wallace has served the Valdosta community since 1989, bringing more than three decades of experience in podiatric medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and completed his surgical residency at Trinity Regional Hospital.

Dr. Daugherty has also been a longtime provider of podiatric care in Valdosta, serving patients since 1998 with extensive experience in both clinical and surgical settings, including ambulatory surgery center development. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

Patients will experience a seamless transition, with no interruption in care. The clinic will retain its experienced staff, convenient location, and commitment to patient-centered service, while benefiting from enhanced access to SGMC Health’s broader system of specialty services, advanced technology, and coordinated care pathways.

“Our focus has always been delivering excellent care to our patients,” said Dr. Wallace. “Joining SGMC Health allows us to build on that mission with greater access to resources and collaboration across specialties.”

Dr. Daugherty added, “We are excited to continue caring for our patients and to be part of a system that is deeply invested in the health and well-being of this community.”

SGMC Podiatry will continue to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care, including treatment for injuries, chronic conditions, diabetic foot care, and surgical services.

SGMC Podiatry, formerly Valdosta Foot & Ankle Clinic, will continue to operate at its current location, 2800 N Oak St., Valdosta, and can be reached at (229) 433-3565. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit sgmc.org.
