SGMC Health welcomes pulmonologist Dawn Stanley, MD, to the health system. Her addition expands access to specialized pulmonary care for patients across the region, with a primary focus on outpatient pulmonology while also bringing extensive experience in critical care and sleep medicine.
As a board-certified physician in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine, Dr. Stanley diagnoses and treats a wide range of respiratory conditions, including chronic lung diseases and complex pulmonary disorders. Her background also includes caring for critically ill patients in intensive care settings and managing sleep-related conditions such as sleep apnea and insomnia.

Dr. Stanley earned her medical degree from Rush University after attending Loyola University Chicago. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and fellowships in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, where she later served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Stanley practiced in Colorado, caring for patients in intensive care units, pulmonary consultation services, and outpatient pulmonary and sleep medicine clinics. Most recently, she served as an Associate Professor with the University of Colorado, combining patient care with medical education.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Stanley is passionate about helping individuals better understand their health and take an active role in their care. Inspired by her own experiences as a young patient, she strives to ensure each patient feels supported, heard, and empowered throughout their healthcare journey.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Stanley enjoys traveling with her husband, Phil, and visiting their children across the United States. The couple and their English Cream Retriever, Lewie, are enjoying life in South Georgia and becoming part of the Valdosta community.
