SGMC Health Welcomes Internal Medicine Residency Faculty

SGMC Health welcomes Anna Ledford, MD, and Mariya Tom, MD, to SGMC Internal Medicine – Park Avenue, where they will serve as attending physicians and teaching faculty for the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
SGMC Internal Medicine – Park Avenue clinic serves as the residency program’s continuity clinic, where resident physicians provide ongoing care to patients under faculty supervision. In their roles, Dr. Ledford and Dr. Tom will guide clinical decision-making, mentor residents, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based care in an outpatient setting.
Both physicians completed their Internal Medicine residency at SGMC Health and have chosen to remain with the organization as faculty, reinforcing SGMC Health’s commitment to training and retaining physicians in South Georgia.
Dr. Ledford earned her medical degree from the University of Science, Arts, & Technology. She is committed to personalized, patient-centered care and building strong relationships with patients through thoughtful, individualized treatment plans.
“Medicine is not one-size-fits-all,” said Dr. Ledford. “It is a privilege to support patients through different phases of their lives and to be entrusted with their care.”
Dr. Tom earned her medical degree from the Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. She focuses on preventive care and chronic disease management, with an emphasis on clear communication and shared decision-making.
“Patients should feel heard, informed, and confident in their care,” said Dr. Tom. “My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care while also supporting residents as they develop the skills needed to deliver excellent patient care.”
Together, Dr. Ledford and Dr. Tom strengthen both primary care access and graduate medical education at SGMC Health, expanding the organization’s ability to serve patients while training the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Ledford has been married to her husband, Jeremy, for 18 years, and they share two dogs, Blanton and Larson. Dr. Tom has been married to her husband, Issac Brian, for six years. He is currently a PGY-2 Internal Medicine resident at SGMC Health.
