SGMC Health Welcomes Infectious Disease and Critical Care Specialist George Bchech, MD

SGMC Health welcomes George Bchech, MD, to its growing network of physician specialists. Dr. Bchech is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and board eligible in Critical Care Medicine. His addition expands access to highly specialized infectious disease and critical care services for patients across the region.

As an infectious disease physician and critical care specialist, Dr. Bchech will provide care at SGMC Infectious Disease in the outpatient setting and the Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit in the hospital. His practice focuses on diagnosing and treating complex infections, managing infectious diseases, and caring for critically ill patients requiring advanced, multidisciplinary treatment.

Dr. Bchech earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, before pursuing dual fellowship training in Infectious Diseases and Critical Care Medicine at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Bchech is committed to advancing medical education and collaborative learning. He hopes to contribute to the continued growth of SGMC Health’s residency programs while working alongside colleagues to provide high-quality care throughout the region. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and is affiliated with the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Drexel College of Medicine Chapter.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Bchech enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Kala Rae Yenick, and looks forward to becoming part of the Valdosta community.
