SGMC Health has recognized Shalese Aycock, NP at SGMC Urology, as the inaugural recipient of the Excellence in Care Advanced Practice Provider Award, a recognition presented by the SGMC Health Provider Wellness Committee.

The award was introduced as an extension of the Excellence in Care Physician Award to recognize the vital contributions of advanced practice providers across the organization. Aycock was selected as the first recipient after receiving four nominations over the past eight months, with selections made from approximately 70 total nominations submitted by patients and SGMC Health team members.

Several nominations highlighted her unwavering commitment to patients and her ability to exceed expectations in her role. Known for her positive attitude and approachable demeanor, Aycock is described as someone who treats every patient like a member of her own family while maintaining a strong focus on clinical excellence and patient advocacy.

Nominators emphasized her attentiveness, noting her ability to listen carefully to patient concerns, provide thoughtful and thorough answers, and ensure all aspects of care are addressed. Others noted her dedication to going above and beyond—taking extra time to comfort patients and families while ensuring follow-up care and testing are seamlessly coordinated.

Colleagues also recognized her leadership within the Urology team, noting her ability to lead by example and contribute to initiatives that enhance patient safety and overall care delivery.

Aycock has been with SGMC Health since 2016, bringing nearly a decade of experience and a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care throughout her tenure.
