Friday, June 26th, 2026
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College's Economic Development division will offer Forklift Certification training this July at its Valdosta and Cook campuses, providing individuals and employers with an opportunity to gain valuable workplace safety skills and earn an industry-recognized credential.
The training will be held on the following dates:
Valdosta Campus: July 14, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cook Campus: July 15, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The cost of the training is $175 per person.
Participants will receive classroom safety instruction and hands-on, behind-the-wheel training designed to prepare operators to safely and effectively operate forklifts in a variety of workplace settings. Upon successful completion, participants will earn a forklift certification that is valid for three years.
Forklift certification is an important credential for employees working in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, construction, and other industrial environments. OSHA requires employers to ensure forklift operators are properly trained and evaluated before operating powered industrial trucks in the workplace. Proper training helps reduce workplace accidents, improves operational efficiency, and supports a safer work environment.
"Forklift operators play a critical role in many industries throughout South Georgia," said Michael Williams, Executive Vice President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. "This training provides participants with the knowledge and practical experience needed to operate equipment safely while helping employers maintain a safer workplace."
Wiregrass Economic Development offers forklift certification courses every month. Training is held monthly at the Valdosta Campus and rotates among the college's Cook, Coffee, and Ben Hill-Irwin campuses to better serve employers and individuals throughout the region.
In addition to these open-enrollment courses, Wiregrass also provides customized forklift training for businesses. Employers may send team members to public classes or schedule onsite training tailored to their specific workplace needs.
"Workforce training is one of the most important services we provide to local industry," Williams said. "Whether a company needs to certify one employee or train an entire team, Wiregrass can help deliver the training needed to keep employees safe and productive."
Space is limited, and early registration is encouraged. For more information or to register, contact Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Economic Development at 229-333-2122, email [email protected], or visit Wiregrass.edu.
