Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, June 17th, 2026

The National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Valdosta-Lowndes Metro Section is inviting the South Georgia community to join a growing movement dedicated to recognizing women's leadership, celebrating service, and investing in future generations.

On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the organization will host its 12th Annual Bethune Leadership Recognition Banquet at the Valdosta State University Student Union Ballroom.

The annual event has become one of South Georgia's premier celebrations of women whose leadership and service are strengthening families, organizations, and communities throughout the region.

This year's banquet will feature nationally recognized executive, entrepreneur, educator, and civic leader Beverly E. Smith as keynote speaker.

Smith previously served as the 26th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and has dedicated her career to transformational leadership, organizational development, and empowering communities through service.

While the banquet celebrates accomplishments, organizers emphasize that the event serves a larger purpose.

"NCNW is intentionally building a culture of leadership throughout South Georgia," said representatives of the NCNW Valdosta-Lowndes Metro Section. "This event is about honoring those who paved the way while inspiring the next generation of leaders. We are investing in people, strengthening communities, and preserving the legacy of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune."

The banquet supports the organization's ongoing work in four key areas:

• Education

• Health Equity

• Economic Empowerment

• Social Justice

Community members are encouraged to attend the event, nominate deserving women and girls, and partner with NCNW through sponsorship opportunities.

Local businesses, organizations, and philanthropic leaders are also invited to participate as investing partners to support leadership development and community initiatives throughout South Georgia.
