Lowndes County Fire Rescue is pleased to announce its 2026 Junior Summer Fire Academy, a dynamic, hands-on program that introduces youth to the field of fire and emergency services. The academy will be offered in two sessions: June 1–5 for participants ages 11–14, and June 22–26 for participants ages 14–17. Both sessions will take place daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Station 10, located at 2981 U.S. Highway 84 East in Valdosta, Georgia.

  • Fire station and apparatus tours
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • First aid and CPR instruction
  • Mock search and rescue drills
  • Hose operations and more
“This marks our second year of the Junior Summer Fire Academy, and our goal remains to inspire the next generation of public safety professionals while providing valuable life skills in a fun, structured environment,” said Billy Young, Fire Chief of Lowndes County Fire Rescue. “This academy offers a realistic, yet age-appropriate, look into the duties of fire service personnel.”
