Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is proud to announce that Sean Strickland, Computer Information Systems Instructor, has been selected as a Teaching Fellow with the AI Adult Learning and Online Education Institute (AI-ALOE) through the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG).

Strickland is one of only 11 instructors statewide chosen for the program’s second cohort following a highly competitive application process. The AI-ALOE Teaching Fellows Program brings together educators and researchers to develop, test, and implement innovative artificial intelligence tools that enhance instruction, expand access to online learning, and improve student outcomes in adult and technical education.

The AI-ALOE Institute, a National AI Institute focused on adult learning and online education, partners with selected instructors to integrate responsible, cutting-edge AI technologies directly into their courses. Fellows participate in technology training, classroom implementation, applied research, and ongoing feedback designed to better understand modern learner needs and strengthen instructional practices across Georgia’s technical college system.

“Being selected as an AI-ALOE Teaching Fellow is an honor and an exciting opportunity to further integrate responsible, practical AI into technical education,” said Strickland. “This fellowship allows me to better prepare students with the skills and critical thinking they’ll need to succeed in an AI-driven workforce.”

The fellowship is a one-year commitment, running from January through December 2026. During this time, Strickland will collaborate with AI-ALOE researchers and fellow educators, implement AI-supported instructional tools in his coursework, and contribute feedback and insights that may help scale successful practices across TCSG institutions.

In addition to Strickland’s selection, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College is also recognizing the contributions of three Wiregrass faculty members—Angela Brantley, Jessica Eisner, and Nick Palombo— who were selected for the first AI-ALOE Teaching Fellows cohort in spring 2024. These instructors worked with the Institute through summer 2025, helping establish early research, classroom applications, and best practices for AI integration in technical education.

“The continued involvement of Wiregrass faculty in this program reflects our college’s strong commitment to innovation, workforce readiness, and student success,” said Holly Greene, Dean of Academic Affairs. “From the first cohort to the current one, our instructors are helping shape the future of teaching and learning in Georgia.”
