SGMC Health Honors Lindsey with Safe Care Award

SGMC Health recognized Shawn Lindsey, CT Technologist at SGMC Health Berrien, as the latest recipient of the Safe Care Award for demonstrating exceptional vigilance and a strong commitment to patient safety.
While completing a diagnostic imaging exam, Lindsey carefully reviewed both the images and the corresponding report from the radiologist. During this review, he identified a discrepancy that warranted further attention. Recognizing the potential impact on patient care, he promptly communicated the concern to the radiologist and provided additional context to ensure clarity.
As a result, the radiologist updated the report to accurately reflect the findings, supporting appropriate clinical follow‑up. Lindsey’s actions demonstrate the importance of thorough review, situational awareness, and speaking up when something does not align—key behaviors that contribute to safer care for every patient.
This recognition marks the second time Lindsey has received the Safe Care Award. He was previously honored in August 2024 for similarly speaking up and asking clarifying questions to support patient safety. His continued commitment reflects a consistent dedication to safe practices and effective communication within the care team.
