SGMC Health has named Dee Dee Carswell, a cook at SGMC Health Lanier, as its February Health System Hero, recognizing her unwavering dedication, strong work ethic, and positive impact on patients, residents, visitors, and fellow team members across the Lanier campus.

Known for her dependability and commitment to excellence, Carswell consistently goes above and beyond her daily responsibilities to ensure high‑quality, safe, and nutritious meals are thoughtfully prepared and served with care. Even during the most demanding shifts, she maintains a positive attitude and attention to detail that supports smooth kitchen operations and exceptional service. Her accountability and pride in her work are evident in everything she does.

Carswell is widely regarded as a true team player. Her coworkers frequently share how reassuring it is to work alongside her, noting her willingness to step in wherever help is needed—whether assisting coworkers who are behind, working retail, washing dishes, pushing carts, or supporting special events. Her leadership by example helps rally the team, boost morale, and foster a respectful, supportive work environment.
