SGMC Health announces the promotion of Bryant Alonso to Director of Acute and Outpatient Therapy, a role that will strengthen access to therapy services across the health system. Alonso will oversee Acute Therapy at all four SGMC Health hospital campuses and lead operations for SGMC Outpatient Therapy Services, the system’s newest clinic set to open in early 2026. This expansion will provide patients with comprehensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy within the health system's network.
Alonso earned a Master of Health Science in Occupational Therapy from Augusta University. He began his career in outpatient pediatrics before joining SGMC Health in 2019, where he focused on Acute Therapy. During his tenure, Alonso spearheaded the creation of SGMC Health’s Safe Patient Handling Program in 2022, aimed at improving patient and employee safety. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO) Champion, he has played a key role in advancing SGMC Health’s commitment to achieving zero harm.
Alonso transitioned into leadership in 2023 as Team Leader and was later promoted to Manager of the Acute Therapy Team. His proven track record of innovation and dedication to patient care positions him to lead SGMC Health’s therapy services into an exciting new era.
“I am thrilled to accept this position and lead our Acute and Outpatient Therapy teams across our ever-growing health system,” said Alonso. “I look forward to introducing innovative strategies that enhance our ability to improve the lives of all we serve through rehabilitation across the continuum of care.”
Outside of work, Alonso enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and coaching his children’s sports teams. He and his wife, Lindsey, have two children.
The opening of SGMC Health’s Outpatient Therapy Services in 2026 will expand access to physical, occupational, and speech therapy, furthering SGMC Health’s goal to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the community.
