Proposed Georgia Bill Aims To Cap Ambulance Costs For Some Residents

A Georgia state representative has introduced legislation that could protect more than 1 million residents from surprise ambulance bills, addressing costs that can reach thousands of dollars for emergency medical transport.

House Bill 961, proposed by state Rep. Michelle Au, would require insurance companies to cover emergency ambulance services at in-network rates, regardless of whether the ambulance provider is in a patient's insurance network. The bill would apply to Georgians on Medicaid and the state health benefit plan.
