SGMC Health Honors McGuire with BEE Award

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025

SGMC Health honored Gloria McGuire, Patient Care Technician on 4West, with the Being Extraordinary Everyday (BEE) Award for November. The BEE Award is a monthly recognition celebrating non-nursing staff members who demonstrate exceptional dedication, teamwork, and compassion in supporting patient care.

McGuire was nominated for her extraordinary efforts to ensure a patient’s comfort and well-being. After a long period of fasting, the patient was eager for a satisfying meal. McGuire noticed an opportunity to make the experience even better and took the initiative to provide an alternative, returning with a turkey sandwich and additional food to brighten the patient’s day. She continued to check in daily, promptly addressed questions, and worked closely with nursing staff to resolve any concerns—actions that reflect SGMC Health’s commitment to compassionate care.

"I was overwhelmed with her compassion and grateful for her help," shared the patient.

The BEE Award is presented monthly to recognize non-nursing staff members, including patient care technicians, nursing assistants, and medical assistants, who exemplify extraordinary dedication, teamwork, and compassion in supporting the nursing staff. Nominees are evaluated based on leadership, attitude, and clinical support skills.

SGMC Health offers a variety of recognition programs to honor employees who most exemplify the tagline, "Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness." To learn more about the BEE Award and other recognition programs, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
