Hospice of South Georgia (HOSG), an affiliate of SGMC Health, is honored to receive a generous $115,000 contribution from The Tree House Thrift Shop for the past year's proceeds. This remarkable gift comes during the observance of National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, a time dedicated to honoring the compassionate care that hospice programs provide to patients and families.

As the region’s only not-for-profit hospice, HOSG ensures that individuals facing life-limiting illnesses receive care regardless of financial circumstances. Community support, like this annual donation, is vital to sustaining programs that prioritize dignity, comfort, and quality of life.

Founded in 2013, The Tree House Thrift Shop has become a cornerstone of HOSG’s fundraising efforts. Operated by passionate staff and volunteers, the shop offers a wide variety of donated clothing, furniture, and home goods, with every purchase directly benefiting hospice patients. Over the years, The Tree House has contributed more than $800,000 to advance HOSG’s mission.

“This incredible donation reflects the dedication of our Tree House staff and volunteers and the generosity of our community,” said Amanda Mason, Director of Hospice of South Georgia. “Every dollar raised helps us provide essential services—such as in-home care, grief counseling, and specialized programs—at no cost to families. We are deeply grateful for this ongoing support.”

The funds will strengthen HOSG’s ability to deliver holistic care that goes beyond medical treatment, offering emotional and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones during life’s most challenging moments.

Community members are invited to continue supporting this mission by shopping, donating, or volunteering at The Tree House Thrift Shop, located at 418 Northside Drive in Valdosta. Donations of gently used items are always welcome, and free pick-up services are available for large contributions.
