SGMC Health Foundation Funds New Passenger Bus for Villa Residents
Thursday, October 23rd, 2025
The SGMC Health Foundation recently provided funding for a brand new 2025 Starcraft Bus to support the residents of SGMC Health Villa, a skilled nursing facility in Lakeland. This exciting addition will greatly enhance mobility and access for Villa residents, offering safe and comfortable transportation for a wide range of activities.
With seating for 12 passengers and 2 wheelchair positions, the new bus ensures that all residents—including those with mobility needs—can participate in outings and appointments with ease. Whether it’s a scenic drive, a trip to a local event, or a visit to a medical provider, the bus opens the door to more frequent and enriching experiences outside the facility.
“Reliable transportation is essential to maintaining the dignity, independence, and well-being of our residents,” said Hilary Gibbs, Vice President of Support Services and Chief Development Officer. “This bus represents our commitment to improving the lives of those we serve and supporting the caregivers who make it all possible. And let’s be honest—everyone enjoys a new ride, no matter their age!”
Additionally, the bus will assist SGMC Health’s Non-Emergency Transport team during peak workloads and support SGMC Health Lanier transports as needed.
SGMC Health Villa is a 62-bed skilled nursing facility committed to compassionate care in a warm, home-like setting. Whether residents need short-term rehabilitation, long-term care, or hospice services, the Villa’s certified team provides high-quality support tailored to each individual.
The SGMC Health Foundation continues to invest in initiatives that elevate healthcare excellence across SGMC Health. Thanks to the generosity of donors and community leaders, the Foundation is able to fund projects that directly impact patient care, staff support, and facility enhancements.
