Greater Valdosta United Way Launches 2026 United We Thrive Campaign
Monday, September 15th, 2025
Greater Valdosta United Way (GVUW) is proud to announce the official launch of its 2026 United We Thrive Campaign, reaffirming its long-standing commitment to creating lasting change in South Georgia. This year’s campaign continues GVUW’s mission to unite people and resources to tackle the region’s most pressing challenges.
Since its founding in 1954, GVUW has been a trusted partner in strengthening South Georgia, investing more than $45 million back into local communities. These dollars have supported local programs and initiatives that address Basic Needs, provide Housing & Shelter, expand Mental Health Training & Awareness, and advance Youth & After-School initiatives.
This past year marked a series of historic achievements for GVUW, including a record number of investments to local partner agencies and the passage of a Resolution from the State of Georgia recognizing GVUW’s disaster recovery impact across South Georgia. These milestones underscore the organization’s continued growth, accountability, and deep roots in the community.
However, the challenges facing South Georgia are greater than ever. Inflationary pressures have stretched household budgets thin, while back-to-back natural disasters have placed unprecedented strain on families, nonprofits, and critical resources. These hardships have
only amplified the demand for United Way’s services, making community support more urgent than at any point in recent history.
“United Way has been part of the South Georgia community for over 70 years, and we remain committed to being here for generations to come,” said Michael Smith, President and CEO of GVUW. “The 2026 campaign allows us to build on this strong foundation and continue meeting the growing needs of families and individuals in our region.”
GVUW calls on community members, businesses, and organizations to step forward and take part in this year’s campaign. Whether through giving, volunteering, or advocacy, every contribution makes a difference. Now more than ever, we need your partnership to ensure our neighbors not only recover but thrive.
Businesses across South Georgia are also encouraged to join the movement by hosting a United Way Workplace Campaign. These campaigns give employees an opportunity to come together, make a collective impact, and see firsthand how their contributions create lasting change in the community. By participating, businesses not only strengthen the region, they also foster teamwork, boost morale, and show their commitment to being a force for good.
