Rachel Grubb Headlines Suwannee Riverkeeper Contest 2025

Rachel Grubb of Lake City, Florida, will sing her haunting encore from last year, as well as the song she won with, as Headliner for the 2025 Suwannee Riverkeeper Songwriting Contest.

Come hear the finalists this year, Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Turner Center for the Arts, in Valdosta, Georgia. “Musicians, send in your own song!” said Gala Committee Chair and WWALS Board President Sara Squires Jones.

The Contest is part of WWALS River Revue, which features food, drink, a silent auction, and speakers from Georgia and Florida. Rachel Grubb’s encore, “Ghost of the Suwannee,” will call you home.

Then the Finalists will play, and three judges will pick winners in multiple genres, as well as Best from Inside the Suwannee River Basin, Best from Outside, and First Prize.

Persistence paid off last year when Rachel Grubb came back after several years with her song, “Cruising Down the Suwannee.” She won plaques not only Best Americana Indie-Folk Song, but also First Prize, with $300 check.

Rachel wrote about herself, “I’m a singer-songwriter from Lake City, Florida. I find a great deal of inspiration in the beauty of our area springs and rivers. I am currently completing my second solo album entitled “Florida Home,” a collection of songs about rural north Florida and its natural beauty.”
