Valdosta Reports a 3.9% Unemployment Rate for January

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Valdosta recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent in January, up one-tenth of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 3.7 percent.

The labor force in Valdosta decreased by 191 over-the-month and ended January with 61,331. That number decreased by 68 when compared to January of 2024.
Valdosta finished the month with 58,940 employed residents. That number decreased by 237 over-the-month and decreased by 183 compared to the same time last year.
Valdosta ended January with 56,600 jobs, down 1,000 over-the-month and up 100 when compared to this time last year.
In January, initial unemployment claims increased by 67 over-the-month and were up by 34 compared to the same month last year, totaling 369.
