Valdosta City Budget Hearings

Initial public hearings for the Fiscal Year 2021 City of Valdosta Budget will be held at City Hall in Council Chambers, 216 E. Central Ave., on June 17, 2020 at 3:00 PM. These hearings will be live streamed on the City’s Facebook page and website. A copy of the budget is available for inspection in the Budget Office at City Hall during regular business hours weekdays until the hearing date. Consistent with guidance on limiting the spread of COVID-19 through social distancing, we ask you to please communicate with our staff over the telephone and internet. A final public hearing will be held at City Hall, 216 E. Central Ave., on June 25, 2020 at 5:30 PM for the purpose of adopting the Fiscal Year 2021 City Budget.

The Central Valdosta Development Authority manages the process of enhancing Downtown's position as the governmental, cultural, and economic center of the Greater Lowndes County area by involving businesses, property owners, government, churches, and the entire community.
The Central Valdosta Development Authority meets the Tuesday following the second Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m.  All meetings are held in the Authority conference room in the City Hall Annex, Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 North Lee Street.
 
VLPRA HOSTS COMMUNITY FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR
 
Valdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority is hosting South Georgia’s largest fireworks show on Independence Day.VLPRA’s annual Fireworks Spectacular will be held on Saturday, July 4th at nightfall (starting around 9:15-9:30 PM). The show is free to view and the VLPRA encourages people to watch the fireworks on the mall side of I-75, between exits 16 and 18. Just look west toward Brooks County.
 
Public Art Advisory Committee

The City of Valdosta created the Public Art Program to further the purchase and foster the appreciation of works of public art and to promote the creation of works of art and the purchase of same for the citizens and the City of Valdosta in order to promote the aesthetic value to the entire community. The Public Art Advisory Committee will meet the third Thursday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Turner Center for the Art, 527 North Patterson Street.
