If you can tell time, read a text message, or deposit a paycheck, you have a teacher to thank for those skills. Teachers are the unsung heroes of our community and Valdosta North Rotary Club is doing something about it!
On October 16, 2018 at the Lowndes High School Cafetorium, Valdosta North Rotary will host its sixth annual TEACHER APPRECIATION DINNER to honor the 22 Teachers of the Year from the Valdosta City and Lowndes County school systems.
To honor these hard working teachers, we need the community’s help to sponsor tables for the event. The tables can be used by sponsoring businesses or organizations, or donated back to Rotary so these worthy, hard-working teachers and their support staff may attend.
Emmy Award winning science teacher Steve Spangler is the guest speaker for this year’s event. Sponsorships begin at the $1,000 level.
“The Teacher Appreciation Dinner is the major fundraiser for Valdosta North Rotary and all receipts over expenditures are donated back to the Valdosta City Schools and LEIF Foundations to support teachers and classrooms. We need the community’s help to ensure this program’s success,” stated Club President Laura Love.
Last year, over 600 teachers and guests attended the banquet. This year, with the move to a larger venue, we are hoping to honor approximately 1000 teachers, faculty, friends and family from around the region.
TAD Coordinator Danny Broyles said, “We need everyone’s support. Teachers are some of the most important individuals in our children’s lives and seldom are they recognized for the jobs they do. Valdosta North Rotary has made it our mission to change that.”
