It's Georgia Cities Week
The City of Valdosta will celebrate Georgia Cities Week with a variety of events throughout the week. The theme this year is “Georgia Cities in the Spotlight,” which allows Valdosta to showcase the role city government plays in the quality of life of its residents, businesses, and visitors. The week also provides opportunities to show appreciation to our residents, volunteers and city employees who serve the community year-round. The events listed below with a red asterisk ( * ) indicate those which are a part of the GCW observance. Read more.
April 24 | Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center and Tourism Authority Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center and Tourism Authority will meet on Tuesday, April 24, at 8 a.m., located at 1 Meeting Place. See city calendar.
April 24 | City Blood Drive*
Give the gift of life at the American Red Cross City Blood Drive, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Multi-Purpose Room. Read more.
April 24 | Last Day to Nominate for HPA
Nominations are still being accepted through April 24 for the Valdosta Historic Preservation Awards (HPA), held each May in observance of National Historic Preservation Month. Nomination forms, as well as full HPA rules and information, can be found on the HPA application located on the Valdosta website. Read more.

April 26 | City Employee Appreciation Luncheon*
City officials will serve lunch, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to city employees at John W. Saunders Memorial Park to show their appreciation for the work city employees provide year-round. Read more.
April 27 | Job Shadow Day*
Forty students from Valdosta High School Advancements via Individual Determination (AVID) program will job shadow city department heads and give presentations to the Mayor, City Co
April 27 | Back to School Collaboration Meeting

April 28 | VPD Open Testing*
The Valdosta Police Department will host an Open Testing for those interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, on Saturday. April 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Valdosta City Hall Multi-Purpose Room located at 300 N. Lee Street. Read more.
