Lowndes County Traffic Alert: I-75 South Traffic Pacing Scheduled Tuesday Night at Exit 22
Staff Report From Valdosta CEO
Tuesday, January 16th, 2018
Law enforcement will pace Interstate 75 southbound traffic approaching Exit 22 Tuesday night for installation of bridge begins at the new overpass under construction.
Pacing is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. It may take several hours to set the beams. Drivers should expect delays and are asked to be patient moving through the work zone and to remain alert for personnel and heavy equipment in the area.
Some beams were set on the northbound side at Exit 22 this week. This is part of a $49 million Georgia Department of Transportation project to reconstruct the interchanges at Exit 22 and Exit 29 at Hahira. The bridges were built in 1960 and the design is outdated for current and projected traffic.
Construction is south of the existing overpasses, which will not close until traffic can be moved to the new bridges. The construction contract was awarded to Reames and Son Construction Co. Inc. of Valdosta and Southern Concrete Construction Co. Inc. of Albany is the bridge subcontractor.
The completion date for the two interchanges is April 30, 2020.
