Dec. 5 | Valdosta-Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals Meets
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 2:30 p.m. from 3:30 p.m., in the City Hall Annex, Multi-Purpose Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street. See city calendar.

Dec. 7 | Happy 157th Birthday, Valdosta!
In the year 1860, the City of Troupeville was moved four miles closer to newly constructed railroad tracks and renamed Valdosta. With a population of 166 people, Valdosta thrived as the county government seat of Lowndes County and the inland capital for Sea Island cotton. In its first 10 years the city grew 622 percent with a population of 1,999. Dec. 7 will mark 157 years of agriculture, growing business and industry, and the remarkable quality of life that has made Valdosta South Georgia’s regional city.

The City of Valdosta congratulates all graduates participating in Valdosta State University’s fall commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday, Dec. 9. Motorists should use caution when traveling around the campus—particularly around the P.E. Complex located on Baytree Road—and throughout the city this weekend, as an increase in motorists and pedestrians is expected due to the celebratory events.
