The South Georgia Regional Alzheimer's Association Chapter and Valdosta Main Street will host this event in Downtown Valdosta on Friday, Nov. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Historic Lowndes County Courthouse. For more information, call 229-388-8219.

Nov. 5 | Fall Back for Daylight Savings
Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 5, and residents should remember to turn their clocks backward one hour to 1 a.m. The purpose of daylight saving time—observed by the United States and Canada—is to provide more hours of daylight during the evenings and less in the mornings. Valdosta Fire Chief Freddie Broome says Daylight Saving Time is also a great bi-annual reminder to change the batteries in smoke alarms. More than 60 percent of home fire deaths result from no smoke alarm or no working smoke alarm. Please take an extra minute on Nov. 5 to change your smoke alarm batteries while setting your clocks back an hour.
